Observatory and Camera Obscura on Clifton Down
The Clifton Observatory is near to the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Home to a camera obscura and entrance to St. Vincent's Cave with its exit on the Avon Gorge cliff face 250 feet above the River Avon.
The metal platform at the exit has good views of the Clifton Bridge and the Avon Gorge.
Correction Oct 2007: The cave is probably natural rather than roman as shown on this page pre Oct 2007. Although there was a iron age camp exactly where the observatory is today (see Clifton history below).
