I have never been able to get so close to a squirrel before, here about 4 or 5 feet away.
The nearby tree must have been a reassuring easy escape route,
curiously it only jumped onto the tree when I backed away.
I have only seen squirrels from a distance since last March I think,
they certainly seem to become bolder in the colder weather.
Perhaps more determined to get an extra bite of whatever its holding.
